Responsibilities

General Functions:
 Produces high quality diagnostic radiographs, by selecting and operating appropriate radiographic
equipment and C.T. images, utilizing a C. T. scanner and computed tomography techniques
 Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification and procedure is recorded.
Assists practitioner with fluoroscopy and the advanced scope of practice in C.T. by being registered
with the ARRT.
 Practices aseptic techniques as necessary. Understand methods of venipuncture and other sterile
techniques, in agreement with state statues and/or where institutional policy permits, prepares,
identifies and/or administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
 Assumes responsibility for assigned areas, quality control of equipment and reports equipment

SUMMARY

The CT Tech specializes in computed tomography and performs diagnostic procedures utilizing radiation detection and imaging equipment. The CT Tech provides quality care to patients of all age groups, from newborn to elderly, according to department standards.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of Imaging Technology

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 0-1 year with competency in components of computerized tomography.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of a current Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), in Radiology and C.T. documentation of approved training or possession of current Texas Medical Board (TMB) license. Must have ARRT &CT Registry within one year post graduation from accredited school.

REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): BLS–Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network.
