Position Summary
The Director of Software Engineering is a strategic and technical leader responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software solutions. This role involves managing engineering teams, driving innovation, ensuring best practices in software development, and aligning engineering efforts with business goals.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, engineering managers, and technical leads.
- Lead the design of scalable, multi-tenant architectures leveraging Azure cloud-native services.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, DevOps, Security, and Support teams to ensure secure and reliable software delivery pipelines.
- Partner with Client Success and Product teams to integrate usage data and client feedback into the development lifecycle.
- Partner with Innovation and architecture teams on feature delivery with innovation and technical debt management through strategic backlog management
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle, and manage release governance practices including readiness checks, rollback protocols, and coordinated release cycles.
- Define and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with company objectives.
- Implement and enforce best practices in coding, architecture, testing, and agile methodologies.
- Manage resource allocation, budgeting, and hiring for the engineering department.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and processes to improve productivity and product quality.
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability.

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing software project delivery in a SaaS environment with complex, multi-layered organizational structures and cross-functional dependencies.
- Experience overseeing hybrid engineering teams across multiple time zones, including both domestic (onshore) and international (offshore) team structures and workflows.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, cloud technologies, and modern development frameworks.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience with Microsoft DevOps and DevOps practices.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in industry-specific technologies or domains, e.g., fintech, healthcare, AI.
- Familiarity with compliance standards such as SOC-2 Type II, NIST 800-171, GDPR and FedRAMP.
- Hands-on experience with specific programming languages or platforms
Work Environment
This position performs its duties from our New Braunfels, TX office. This position operates in a professional office environment and role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, mobile devices, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Requirements
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; frequently required to talk and hear, use hands and fingers to type, scroll and use computer equipment. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection of text/data in both print and electronic forms.
Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position. Days/hours worked are dependent on the workload at the time. General availability and presence in the office is expected during regular business hours Monday-Friday. However, some flexibility is allowed. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Travel required at least six (6) times a year to spend time at other offices, attend conferences/industry events, etc. Attendance at our corporate Staff Retreat is required. This event is a 2-3-day retreat. Attendance at our annual User Conference as assigned.
Salary Range
The salary range is $180,000.00 - $200,000.00 annually. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
