Primary Purpose:

Assist with the development, implementation and administration of departmental operating policies and procedures specific to student behavior management. Coordinate with the safety department to ensure staff receive effective training to maintain student behavior to create a safe environment for students on the school bus. Maintains the highest level of professional communication with campus administrators, fellow employees, and our community.

Education / Certification:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
  2. Texas School Bus Driver Safety Training Certificate or willing to obtain.
  3. Must be certified or willing to obtain certification by the Texas Association of Pupil Transportation (TAPT) as a Pupil Transportation Official, Supervisor, Specialist or Trainer.

Special Knowledge / Skills:

  1. Thorough understanding of school operations.
  2. Strong organization skills and group presentation skills.
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills and well developed written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Must be knowledgeable in adult training techniques and possess a mechanical aptitude, and strong leadership skills.
  5. Computer literate, preferable in word processing, power point and spreadsheets.
  6. Ability to coordinate campus support operations.

Experience / Other Requirements:

  1. Five or more years of school administration or pupil transportation work experience.
  2. Personal cell phone is required to handle district related business, including after hours, or when away from the office on district business.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior.
  2. Deal sensitively and fairly with person from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  3. Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed, and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
  4. Conduct conferences on student and transportation issues with parents, students, and staff.
  5. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
  6. Maintain and use key pupil transportation data to track progress and improve safety and security on buses specific to student behavior.
  7. Documents and manages campus administrators, parent, and employee complaints specific to student behavior on the school bus.
  8. Prepare and administer appropriate training and education to transportation employees specific to student behavior management.
  9. Conducts investigations into student and/or parent complaints specific to behavior occurring on the school bus.
  10. Works cooperatively with campus administrators' investigating allegations occurring on the school bus.
  11. Prepares and submits required reports in a timely manner.
  12. Supervises compliance with Comal ISD policies and/or processes by action and speech. Discusses any breech of policy and procedure noted with the Director of Transportation.
  13. Cooperates with all Comal ISD Student Transportation Services personnel, campus administrators, parents, students, and communities.
  14. Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department records.
  15. Participates in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

Share supervisory responsibility for staff with Assistant Director
