Under general supervision, you will manage, coordinate, and facilitate the delivery of safe, fun, high-quality childcare in Das Rec’s Kinder Care/ child watch area to ensure customer satisfaction and safety for employees, members, and visitors at Das Rec, New Braunfels Recreation Center.
The responsibilities you’ll be trusted with:

- Develops and maintains expert knowledge of Das Rec’s childcare tracking system, Procare Solutions.
- Establishes and maintains an environment built around safety, cleanliness, courtesy, and efficiency while developing a positive and fun work setting.
- Works closely with Assistant Guest Services Supervisor and Membership & Marketing Supervisor to set high level of standards and expectations within the Kinder Care team and holds self and staff accountable to those expectations.
- Models appropriate practices for caring for and interacting with young children and parents and maintains respect for all children, parents, guests, and staff members.
- Plans and implements weekly programs that include safe and appropriate themes, games, stories, crafts, and special events.
- Takes initiative and can work independently as well as in a group with a variety of people from various backgrounds and cultures.
- Greets and interacts with parents and children in a calm, professional manner and remains calm under stressful situations.
- Thoroughly reviews and communicates Kinder Care policies, guidelines, and procedures to parents and guardians new to Das Rec Kinder Care.
- Understands safety and emergency procedures and exercises sound judgment to report unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately.
- Maintains order and organization of Kinder Care room and properly maintains and stores equipment and supplies.
- Tracks Kinder Care inventory and initiates supply order requests as needed.
- Assists with complete sanitation and cleaning of toys, furniture, and environment as directed by Assistant Guest Services Supervisor and Membership & Marketing Supervisor.
- Assists in managing a variety of administrative activities including computer records, accident/injury reports and work activity reports.
- Supervises Kinder Care Attendants, providing encouraging direction as necessary.
- Serves as a liaison between the Kinder Care staff and the Membership & Marketing Supervisor.
- Assists with training and orientation of new staff and leads staff meetings.
- Prepares and assists in maintaining Das Rec, New Braunfels Recreation Center to ensure a safe condition and to meet community needs; must be in compliance with the City’s strategic objectives, policies and procedures, and State and Federal laws.
- Assists in maintaining a hygienic, pleasant, attractive and sanitary environment for participants at all times.
- Assists with training and evaluating assigned staff; developing staff skills; meets regularly with staff to discuss and resolve workload and technical issues; reviews the work of assigned staff to assure the quality of assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Assists with the development of procedures, forms, guidelines, and training programs for all assigned staff members
- May be required to work hours outside of normal work schedule for staff meetings, trainings, extended program hours, parent nights or association events
- Performs basic janitorial tasks.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:
Education and Experience:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age AND Must have one (1) year experience working with children in a childcare setting and one (1) year customer service/public interaction experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Must possess or be able to obtain within two (2) weeks of employment: Community First Aid and Safety/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.
Required Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of customer service.
- Federal and State safety laws and regulations.
Required Skill in:
- Interpreting customer and facility needs and solving customer service and public relations issues.
- Analyzing problems, providing alternatives, and identifying solutions in support of established goals.
- Responding to emergencies and determining corrective actions using available resources.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with City employees, facility lessees and guests, event sponsors and vendors, and the public.
- Effective, clear, and concise communication, both verbally and in writing.
Your work environment:
- Work is performed primarily indoors in all weather conditions, with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals; is subject to sitting, standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods of time swimming, riding in or operating motorized or manually operated watercraft and must be able to safely pull, push, lift and carry items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Must be able to work irregular hours including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Must be willing to assist patrons.
- May be required to work immediately before, during or after an emergency or disaster.
