As a member of the Quality Department the Quality Laboratory Coordinator is a leadership position reporting to the Sr. Quality Manager, with direct responsibilities to ensure Safety, Quality, and Laboratory Testing requirements are meeting our customers’ expectations and industry Quality Standards (IATF-16949, VDA 6.3).
The Quality Lab Coordinator will have the responsibilities and accountabilities of TPM, maintaining and improving the integrity of the lab equipment and quality systems’ compliance (including Calibration Systems) with support of the Sr. Quality Manager.

Key Responsibilities

· Coordinating, Testing, Training, Coaching, and accountability for the following:
o Based on incoming inspection procedures coordinate, review, disposition and recording of materials needed for the manufacturing of Supported Expanded Vinyl.
o Prepare Certificates of Analysis for flat stock material based on laboratory testing as well as Certificates of Analysis for Laminated Material based on laboratory testing results and certificates provided by the lamination partners.
o Coordinate the data gathering for the execution and distribution of completed Certificates of Analysis to the different customers.
o Support the internal production releasing based on in-process data review, support testing for Safe Launch activities and Quality Gates as needed.
o Perform monthly audits with corrective action follow-up (as necessary)
o Coordinate the completion of flammability testing and associated reporting on all automotive material.
o Coordinate the collection and filing of all process paperwork to ensure compliance with recording retention requirements.
o Compile in-process test data for all special and / or critical characteristics to be submitted on customer required formats as needed.
o Retain and itemize test records, specimens, and lot retain samples for Flat Stock and Laminated materials.
o Assemble and retain production test packages for PPAP and master source submissions.
o Generating Daily, Weekly and Monthly KPI reports for Quality Laboratory activities.
o Continuous Improvement of the Quality Laboratory capabilities
o Steps in to run, or support the testing in any Zone that needs assistance due to workload or manpower shortages
o Ensure Test Methods are available for all the testing described under the Laboratory Scope Manual.
o Coordinate the activities to ensure execution of Calibration of Inspection, Measuring and Test Equipment for the facility.
o Coordinate and balance the workload of the different zones of the Quality Laboratory for mass production and during special testing required for new constructions and PPAP submissions.
o Conduct research for the acquisition, maintenance and repair of Inspection, Measurement and Test Equipment required for the completion of all tests listed under the Laboratory Scope Manual.
o Other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

· ASQ CQT or equivalent work experience
· Must be knowledgeable in SQC pack with a broad understanding of SPC
· Familiar with working in an IATF 16949, ISO 140001 environment
· Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software
· Ability to work independently while meeting the required timelines
· Ability to understand testing standards, complete analytical testing, interpret data and write technical test reports
· Experience in an SAP work environment
· Exposure to working in a lab environment with knowledge of the following test equipment:
· Tensile tester
· Abrasion Testing (Crock, Wyzenbeek, Matindale, etc.)
· Flex tester
· Seam fatigue
· Stiffness tester
· Spectrophotometer
· Stretch Apparatus
· Xenon
· Flammability testing
· Fogging Testting

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years working in a Quality Lab in a leadership role in an automotive or high-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency on the use of data management software to combine arrays of data from different sources and compilation according to the needs of the laboratory.
  • Experience with ISO / IATF standards maintenance and implementation essential
  • Familiar with ISO 17025 Standard implementation and auditing.
  • Must possess exceptional computer skills, Microsoft Office Applications including word and excel, Minitab, SAP (Manufacturing).
  • Proficient in the application of statistical tools for process controls and continuous improvements (SPC, DOE, etc.).
  • Needs to be a team player with exceptional Organizational skills
